2015 repress ! passionate advocates of vinyl, apollonia re-press point gs rare classic underwater, the first in a number of their personal out-of-stock favourites. the archetypal track of the paris afterhours that encapsulates the sound of the batofar kwality parties, a memory which is at the very core and stimulus of apollonia... underwater was a favourite of the trio back in 1998 and continues to be a record bag must-have in 2013. moody, bassy, a freaky lose-yourself-moment in the spaced-out melody, this deep house classic is being re-pressed for the first time exclusively on apollonia. a production project of dj gregory, the point g imprint created in the mid 90s offered a dark, raw interpretation of us deep house, given his alternative french twist. making a strong impact on the underground scene at the time, point g gained much respect amongst his peers with timeless releases like the raw and on the raw again eps, hence original copies of many of his early tracks are extremely scarce

what do people like balihus daniel wang and royksopp have in common? they write nice things like this about our (not so) new talent kid on the block. polosh superproducer maximilian skiba! music from a very good young polish producer, warm chords, funky melodies, think bass and guitars by chic meeting a string section by beethoven, with a touch of italo-disco and almost flamenco-like soul daniel wang he produces very nice italo disco tracks, im a fan royksopp. shanghouse is an instant hit. i would say instant classic if this wasnt so daft and meaningless. if you just heard it 5 times and feel the need to put it on another time. thats shanghouse by max skiba. then theres a great remix by victor rosado and a great slightly diverse prins thomas edit of korsakot another track.

the km editions series, admirably helmed by the mysterious keyboard masher, has always been one of the more interesting re-edit/rework labels. past installments have touched on krautrock, disco, balearica, funk, italo and what can only be described as electronic oddities. this sixth volume offers up three more impressively remixed, overdubbed and reedited gems. theres naturally much to admire, not least the omd style woozy synth-pop of stolen shapes (stealing rework), which should tickle the fancy of anyone of a balearic disposition. the same can be said about the immersive, sun-kissed pianos and shuffling grooves of -astral playground. there s also a chunk of silly but, perversely, rather good french cod-reggae in the shape of le cod-, arguably our pick of a strong bunch.

in about 2003 i did some work for deepfunk and northern soul legend keb darge and as was the way back then i received payment in vinyl. included in the pile was this little detroit number which i instantly fell in love with. in 1980 david mcmurray and adell shavers and david mcmurray (who went on to be a member of 80s hit band was not was) wrote and produced this amazing detroit modern / boogie 45 which for some reason suffered the same fate of many of aotn releases and disappeared from history. but thanks to the generation of collectors before me this gem sat safely in northern collection such as kebs for years waiting for its day in the sun. it only got limited play but recently the record has had a resurgence in popularity and value which it deserves. after a tip off from jason stirland (soulstax records) i found david mcmurray and it was wonderful to find he was keen to help me bring this wonderful 45 back into the limelight. so here we are�
